Clams, otherwise recognized by their token CLAM, is a cryptocurrency that has been around since 2014. Similarly to Bitcoin, they are a form of digital value, i.e., money, that is created through the work of computers connected to the CLAM software.
Instead of utilizing proof-of-work to process transactions and reward network participants with newly mined tokens, CLAM uses proof-of-stake. Every minute, a random active CLAM client is selected to process new transactions and is awarded 1 CLAM. During the initial distribution phase, all Bitcoin, Litecoin, and Dogecoin users received a proportionate amount of CLAM, as part of their unique proof-of-chain distribution model.
Anybody can join the network by downloading and running the proprietary CLAM software, and this makes them eligible to receive one CLAM every minute as a reward for solving a block of transactions.
