FC Points: Prices, What They Buy and the FC 27 Transfer
Aurika•Sep 11, 2026•9 min read

Summary: FC Points are sold in fixed bundles up to $99.99, they never go on sale, and EA Play members pay 10 percent less. Unlike most game currencies, an unspent balance transfers once into the next title, which matters right now because FC 27 launches on 25 September 2026. Your coins do not transfer, so those are the ones to spend.
- Bundle sizes are fixed, and larger ones cost roughly 17 percent less per point than the smallest.
- EA does not discount FC Points at any point in the year. An EA Play subscription is the only standing 10 percent off.
- Points carry over to the next title once, on the same console family only, and the move cannot be undone.
- Coins, players, packs and Evolutions all reset. Only points, your club name and its founding date survive the annual change.
What Are FC Points?
FC Points are the premium currency in EA Sports FC, bought with real money and spent almost entirely inside Ultimate Team. They open packs, pay for Draft entries, unlock Evolution slots, buy Season and Premium Pass access, and cover cosmetic items in the Clubs Store. They are not required to play Ultimate Team at all, which is worth remembering: they buy speed, not access.
If you are searching for FIFA Points and finding nothing, that is the same currency under its old name. EA renamed it when the FIFA licence lapsed and the series became EA Sports FC, and nothing about how it works changed.
The other thing to know up front is that points are not sold everywhere. EA stopped offering them in Belgium in January 2019 over loot box rules, and they are unavailable in South Korea, so pack buying is simply not part of Ultimate Team in those markets.
FC Points Prices: How the Bundles Work
Points come in fixed bundle sizes rather than any amount you choose, and the largest sells at the same headline figure across currencies: $99.99, or 99.99 in pounds and euros. As with every game currency, the rate improves as the bundle grows, and the spread between the smallest and largest is around 17 percent per point.
The exact tier list shifts between platforms and regions, and in some countries the local prices move with exchange rates by a wide margin, so the live ladder is the one in your own store rather than in any guide. Two things about the structure are reliably useful, though.
- Because sizes are fixed, an awkward target is often cheaper as a combination of smaller bundles than as the next size up. If you need 3,500 points, check the combinations before reaching for a bigger pack.
- A single Ultimate Pack runs to around 3,000 points, or roughly thirty dollars, which is the most honest way to understand what a pack costs. Prices in points hide that; prices in money do not.
Points are bought through the Ultimate Team store, your console store, the EA app, or by redeeming a code. Codes are tied to an account region, so a mismatch between the code and the account is the usual reason one fails to redeem, in the same way that gift cards can be restricted by region.
EA Never Discounts FC Points, But EA Play Does
This is the fact that saves the most money and gets the least attention. EA does not run sales on FC Points. Pack contents go on promotion constantly through Team of the Week and Team of the Season events, but the price of the currency itself stays flat all year, so waiting for a discount is waiting for something that does not come.
The one standing reduction is an EA Play subscription, which takes 10 percent off point purchases. For anyone buying points more than occasionally, that changes the arithmetic on the subscription itself: a few hundred dollars of points a year covers the membership several times over. For anyone buying one pass a season, it does not.
Points are also non-refundable the moment they are spent. Open a pack and the money is gone regardless of what came out of it, which is the whole risk model of the mode in one sentence.
Do FC Points Carry Over to FC 27?
Yes, and this is what separates FC Points from most game currencies. An unspent balance moves into the next title through a one-time transfer, which is a genuinely unusual concession. CoD Points and NBA 2K's VC both die with the game they were bought in.
The rules are strict, and EA sets them out in its own help article on transferring FC Points. The transfer happens through a pop-up the first time you log in to the new game on a console or PC, and it cannot be done through the Web or Companion apps at all.
- It works once, and it is irreversible. Choosing no is permanent, so the safe answer at the prompt is yes.
- Same console family only. PlayStation to PlayStation works, including older to newer generations, but PlayStation to Xbox or PC does not.
- Only between consecutive titles. Skipping a year breaks the chain, so points left in FC 25 by someone who never bought FC 26 are not recoverable.
- There is a deadline. EA has historically closed the window at the end of the calendar year, and the FC 24 to FC 25 transfer shut on 31 December 2024.
- One trap for subscribers: if you play the new title through EA Play, transfer your points and then never buy the full game, the points do not come back to the old one.
What Does Not Carry Over, and Why It Matters This Month
FC 27 launches on 25 September 2026, with early access from 18 September for Ultimate Edition buyers. That makes the next two weeks the period where this section is worth money.
Points transfer. Coins do not. Neither do players, unopened packs, Evolutions, squad building progress, Rivals and Champions records, or objectives. Your club name and its established date follow you, and a strong final Rivals placement influences where you start next year, but the club itself is rebuilt from nothing.
The practical conclusion runs opposite to instinct. Hoarding coins for a head start wastes them entirely, because they reset to zero. Hoarding points is fine, because they survive. So in the closing weeks of a cycle the correct move is to spend the coin balance down on whatever improves the team now, and leave the points alone for launch day, when premium packs are worth opening again.
It also means buying points at the very end of a cycle is close to pointless. Anything you open now produces cards that are worthless in a fortnight, so if you are buying at all, buy after the new game is live.
When Buying a Better Edition Beats Buying Points
If you are buying the game anyway, run the edition arithmetic before you buy any points. The FC 27 Ultimate Edition includes up to 6,000 FC Points, released in three monthly drops, plus the Season 1 Premium Pass. On the United States store the step from the $69.99 Standard to the $99.99 Ultimate is thirty dollars, and 5,900 points bought on their own cost around fifty. Anyone planning to spend meaningfully on points is better off in the higher edition.
Two conditions attached. The Switch version awards a smaller total, and the drops arrive over months rather than at once, so an edition upgrade is not a substitute for points you want on day one. Edition bonuses have also carried hard redemption deadlines in past years, with points forfeited entirely if claimed too late, so the drops are worth collecting as they land rather than leaving in the account.
Where Not to Buy FC Points
EA's own guidance is to buy only from the Ultimate Team store, your console store, or a trusted retailer. The reasoning is not brand protection: accounts get banned over irregular purchases and coin transfers, and a ban costs far more than the discount that tempted you.
Selling coins for cash is the version of this that ends worst. EA's systems flag large late-season transfers, and the penalty is losing the account rather than the coins. Meanwhile the usual red flags apply to anything advertising free or heavily discounted points: an offer that routes around the official store, urgency, and a request for your login.
How FC Points Compare With Other Game Currencies
The pricing curve is near identical across the big annual releases, but the expiry rules are not, and that is the difference worth knowing.
- The FC Points converter turns any bundle back into real money, which is the fastest way to see what a pack actually costs.
- CoD Points tier the same way but are locked to one platform forever and do not survive a title change, though a finished Battle Pass refunds what it cost.
- NBA 2K's VC is the harshest of the three: it expires with the game entirely, so a large pack bought late in a cycle is money thrown away.
Worth stating the obvious comparison too. A currency that resets or transfers on someone else's schedule is a different kind of purchase from a game you own outright, which is the case stores such as GOG.com are built around. Neither is wrong, but the annual reset is a cost that never appears on the price tag.
Transfer the Points, Spend the Coins
With two weeks until FC 27, the plan is short. Spend your coins down now, because they vanish. Leave your points where they are, because they move. Say yes to the transfer prompt the first time you open Ultimate Team on the same console family, and do it before the end of the year rather than trusting the window to stay open. If you are buying points at all, buy them after launch and check whether the higher edition covers what you were going to spend anyway.
