In the proxy industry, crypto payments are becoming a necessity fast.
With a customer base full of privacy-conscious developers, marketers, and data analysts from all over the world, accepting digital assets is key to meeting expectations and unlocking global reach.
Ping Proxies, a UK-based ethical residential proxy provider and web-data collection platform, knows this well. Like many others in their space, they serve a technically advanced audience that prefers to pay in crypto.
And they’re not alone — the entire proxy industry is leaning into digital payments to better serve crypto-native users. But while Ping Proxies had long embraced crypto, their payment system wasn’t always smooth.
Here’s their story — why they made the switch to CoinGate, and how that decision helped them scale.
Key takeaways:
- 270% increase in cryptocurrency sales after switching to CoinGate.
- 150%+ growth in monthly recurring revenue (MRR) driven by flexible payment options.
- Improved customer experience — no more complaints, smoother payments, and 26.4% now choose crypto for payment.

A Customer Base That Demanded Better
“We began accepting cryptocurrency payments in response to strong demand from our customer base,” says Timur Gok, Managing Director at Ping Proxies.
Ping Proxies’ offering — over 35 million ethically sourced residential IPs and static ISP proxies in 15+ countries — is especially attractive to data-driven businesses.
With Smartpath®, an in-house traffic optimization engine, and AI-powered tools baked into their platform, Ping Proxies has positioned itself as a go-to solution for enterprises looking to collect and analyze web data at scale. Learn more.

But as the business grew, so did customer expectations — especially around payment experience.
“Initially, we supported cryptocurrency through a different provider,” explains Timur, “but over time, we received consistent feedback that the previous processor (BitPay) did not meet our customers’ expectations in terms of usability and reliability.”
Complaints became routine. Failed transactions, poor support, and limited options were becoming a bottleneck.
“We would get new complaints about failed payments, lack of payment options, and bad customer service from the vendor every day,” Timur shares. “Our previous solution for cryptocurrency was detested by our customer base.”
That’s when they started looking for an alternative.
Switching to CoinGate: From Hassle to Hands-Off
When Ping Proxies discovered CoinGate, the difference was immediate.
“Yes, very easy,” Timur says about the integration process. “CoinGate made it as easy as adding any traditional payment option – your hosted payment and checkout page abstracted any of the cryptocurrency-specific complexity away from us and allowed us to simply raise an invoice in USD and send a customer to pay it on your website.”
Beyond the simplicity of setup, CoinGate’s developer tools stood out.
“Integrating events via your webhook and API was also very easy,” Timur adds. “Your documentation and general developer experience was fantastic and much better than the previous competitor we used.”
After launching crypto payments through CoinGate, the feedback loop flipped. Customers welcomed the change, and frustrations disappeared.
“When we switched to CoinGate, our customers were very excited and those complaints stopped.”
In fact, crypto payment volume went up significantly.
“Since the switch, we’re processing 3X the cryptocurrency transactions than we previously did.”

Embedding Crypto Across the Customer Journey
Ping Proxies didn’t stop at enabling payments. They also made sure customers knew it was an option.
“We integrated a list of payment options onto every product landing page and we also had a blog announcement about the change,” says Timur. “Furthermore, we also listed on Cryptwerk and we’re planning on hopefully applying to be featured on your CoinGate merchant directory.”
By embedding crypto into the customer journey and using discovery platforms, they ensured visibility among their core user base. Here’s more useful tips on how to promote your crypto payment option.
Result: Crypto Orders Triple, Significant Revenue Increase
Crypto also quickly became a key contributor to growth.
“Yes, since integrating CoinGate a year ago, our business has seen very high growth with MRR increasing by over 150%,” Timur reports. “We attribute part of that to offering more flexible payment options to our clients and courting new clientele which may not have access to traditional payment options.”
While crypto payment options satisfied the existing users, it also opened doors to new ones. And reviewers noticed.
“Our large list of payment options has also been identified as a positive by industry reviewers.”
The numbers speak volumes:
- 270% increase in cryptocurrency sales since switching to CoinGate.
- 26.4% of all customers now pay in crypto.
Ping Proxies’ crypto-friendly customer base has clear preferences when it comes to how they pay.

Litecoin (LTC) leads with 23.5% of all Ping Proxies transactions — a nod to its low fees and no-frills reliability, which developers and data-driven businesses appreciate.
Stablecoins like USDC (18.4%) and USDT (15.3%) come next, offering predictability in a volatile market. Bitcoin (BTC) and TRON (TRX) follow with 14.5% and 12.9%.
Interestingly, nearly one in four customers still pay with altcoins outside the top five — including ETH, SOL, BNB and DOGE — which shows that for Ping Proxies’ global, technically savvy audience, payment flexibility is expected.
Operational Efficiency Beyond Just Payments
Behind the scenes, CoinGate helped Ping Proxies streamline its finances and compliance.
“Our previous vendor only allowed us to withdraw in GBP and this was very annoying for us as we operate in USD,” Timur explains. “FIAT automated withdrawals in USD” was one of the top features they needed, which is why CoinGate was a good fit.
That’s not all. “The accounting and reporting functions are fantastic,” Timur says. “Our accounts team highlighted the improvement over BitPay which has terrible exporting functionality.”

Timur also praised the quality of CoinGate’s API documentation, noting how well-structured and easy to work with it is. He also expressed appreciation for the responsive customer support and the helpfulness of CoinGate’s account managers.
In the end, the full cycle — from payment to withdrawal to reporting — just worked.
“We automatically convert everything to USD and withdraw it. It is fantastic and allows us to pay vendors and staff in the currency they need.”
Staying Ahead of the Industry Curve
Ping Proxies sees crypto as more than a niche option. In fact, it’s becoming essential in their industry.
“Yes, we’ve noticed a lot of vendors in our industry adding cryptocurrency options,” Timur confirms. “And those that don’t will likely get left behind.”
As adoption accelerates, Ping Proxies stands out for being ahead of the curve — but they also believe crypto is a move any business can make.
“Do it as soon as you can,” Timur advises. “The development time is very little compared to the reward.”
For Ping Proxies, the benefits were immediate: more transactions, happier customers, and better financial control.
“There are no real downsides since we auto-convert everything to USD, compliance is handled by CoinGate, and the fees are less than traditional payment options.”
Even the concern of potential bad actors was managed with proactive systems:
“We were slightly worried about the anonymity introducing bad actors but we were able to easily combat that by implementing anti-abuse systems and automated KYC checks for high-risk customers.”
Final Thoughts
For Ping Proxies, crypto payments went from being a customer-driven request to a strategic growth lever. By partnering with CoinGate, they fixed a problem and, with that, unlocked new revenue, improved operations, and solidified trust with their user base.
As Timur puts it: “I think it’s definitely worth it.”
