The challenge
Offering crypto was about staying close to customers. But collecting crypto directly would have meant holding a volatile asset and managing the exchange risk in-house, which is time a growing marketplace would rather spend on growth.
What we set up
CoinGate locks the crypto price at the moment of purchase and converts it to fiat at that rate. Eldorado.gg receives fiat and never holds the coins. As a Vilnius company, it also valued working with a provider on its doorstep.
The integration was handled by a developer who had just joined and had little experience with payment integrations. Crypto checkout was running within a week.
The result
Crypto accounted for 3% of Eldorado.gg’s total sales when the story was published in October 2023. The finance team gets paid in fiat and spends its time on the business rather than on crypto operations.
